To hire Rafe Sagarin as Research
Coordinator for UCLA's Scientific Environmental Assessment of the LA
Basin and Bay (SEA-LABB) to bridge the gap between the scientific
research being conducted at UCLA's Institute of the Environment on LA
Basin and Bay, and the stakeholders involved in restoration efforts in
the area. UCLA's Institute of the Environment has proposed to start the
SEA-LABB project to provide access to UCLA's scientific resources for
the benefit of the agencies, NGOs and citizen groups working towards
restoration of the Bay and to create interdisciplinary collaborations
that demonstrate to regional stakeholders the power of partnerships
with the University. Rafe will develop and communicate applied
research that will help inform environmental decisions concerning the
resources of the Los Angeles Bay and Basin and its communities.
