Christine lives in SW Oregon and works with her husband John Gardiner implementing sustainable agriculture.

Together they run a small consulting firm called WaterCycle Inc. WaterCycle promotes watershed restoration and ecological engineering practices to protect the water environment, including stream bank and floodplain restoration, stormwater management, LID low impact development and soil conservation.

WaterCycle has conducted projects up and down the West Coast, including new park planning on the Los Angeles River at Taylor Yard (2001); watershed management on Malibu Creek (2002); planning for restoration of Tujunga Wash on the Los Angeles River (2003); watershed restoration planning on Forsythe Creek, Mendocino CA (2004); stormwater management planning for the City of Sandy (2002); farm conservation planning Clackamas & Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation Districts (2002-05).

Christine & John also run an alpaca farm and promote sustainable fiber production, integrating small livestock into local food production systems, as advocated by Francis Moore Lappe. On the farm she has the chance to implement ecological revegetation in the Illinois Valley, eradicating weeds in favor of nourishing pasture and the locally native plant community.
