Chuck Striplen is pursuing a Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management at the University of California, Berkeley. An avid student of landscape history and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), Chuck's research is focused on analyses of the physical and ecological characteristics of the wetlands, creeks, and terrestrial habitats of the San Francisco Bay Area prior to major Euro-American colonization. Through the use of early historical documents, oral histories, and other ethno-ecological sources, Chuck hopes to reconstruct a model of Native Californian resource management that shaped the landscape first encountered by European explorers. Chuck attended archeological field school at California State University – Chico and received a dual B.A, in Biology and Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz.
