Myra Finkelstein (1998)
Fellowship Year: 1998
Academic Background: UC Santa Cruz - MS
Current Position: Postdoctoral Research Fellow , UC Santa Cruz
Myra's research focus is environmental toxicology. She is looking at immune system function to see if it can be used as a marker to evaluate effects from chronic sub-lethal contaminant exposure. Her thesis involves evaluating contaminant levels (both heavy metals and organochlorines) and immune function in seabirds resident to the San Francisco Bay area. The results of Myra's research should help all wildlife exposed to contaminants in the Bay Area by assessing the need for pro-active restoration of contaminated regions.
