Kartikeya Singh

Biography

Kartikeya Singh describes himself as an "academic, a social entrepreneur, and a diplomat in training." He is currently the Deputy Program Director at the SED Fund in the Netherlands, where he supports a global network of partners to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Previously, he was Deputy Director, US - India Policy Studies, at the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS). He has many years of experience working with research institutions, start-ups, government, business, and intergovernmental organizations. During his time at the U.S. Department of Energy, he worked across the U.S. government interagency to support and manage U.S.- India and U.S.-Pakistan bilateral energy cooperation. Singh has also worked as a consultant with the Environmental Defense Fund. He is the founder of the Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN), which has served as a forum for voices of the budding youth climate movement across South Asia. Singh has been involved with international climate negotiations since the UN climate talks in Bali in 2007 and has served as part of the negotiating team of the government of Maldives at the climate talks from 2009 to 2012. He received his bachelor of science in ecology & sustainable development, a master of environmental science from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, and a PhD from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy. His research interests include climate change and energy policy, innovation, energy geopolitics, and wildlife management.
