Dave Kramer

Dave is a generalist, skilled in managing and leading mission-driven organizations, with deep experience in international conservation and development, fundraising, and education, and a knack for facilitation, coaching, and mentoring colleagues, young professionals, and interns. He is a natural community manager. Dave is based in Austin, TX after 15 years in Boston and four earlier years in Cali, Colombia in the late nineties. He worked for the last decade at EcoLogic Development Fund, most recently as their Director of Strategy and Impact.

EcoLogic empowers rural communities to restore and protect tropical ecosystems in Latin America. EcoLogic's work is holistic and includes landscape restoration, integrated conservation and development, watershed management, agroforestry, and local capacity-building. He contributed to EcoLogic's work in four areas: (1) Project Design and Evaluation (facilitating project / program execution, strategy, and r&d / learning); (2) Intelligence and Community Management (leading training and "social listening" to stay at forefront, linked to thought leadership and online facilitation of communities to strengthen culture in a semi-virtual workforce); (3) Partnerships and Alliances (leading in strategic partnership development); and (4) $$ (helping fundraise via grant writing, direct pitches to potential supporters, and by seeking out and developing creative collaborations).

Prior to joining EcoLogic in 2006, Dave earned a Master's in Public Policy at Harvard's Kennedy School, and a B.A. in English from Dartmouth College. He taught and developed curriculum and new education programs in Colombia and Boston. Dave also earned a certificate in Outdoor Leadership from Greenfield Community College in rural Massachusetts.

Dave serves as the volunteer co-lead for the Conservation Coaches Network Mesoamerica franchise; is a member of Dartmouth Swimming's fundraising advisory council; serves on Austin's Lamar Middle School's Campus Advisory Council; is a member of Rotary International (at the Austin Cosmopolitan Rotary Club); and is a budding blogger, soccer dad, trail runner, and a not-yet-ready-to-be washed up distance swimmer / aspiring triathlete. He is regularly laughed at by his two bilingual Colombian-American children for a less than perfect Spanish accent, but he prides himself on his Spanish and Spanglish skills.
