Sarah Lupberger
Biography
Sarah Lupberger is currently the Landscapes Manager at the Verified Carbon Standard, where she manages in-country relationships for VCS' emerging Landscape Standard. The project aims to develop and implement a global standard that focuses on the key sustainable production metrics to enable the streamlined assessment of sustainability outcomes at the landscape scale. She also works on issues related to jurisdictional REDD+ in Latin America. Prior to VCS, Sarah completed a fellowship at the Ministry of Environment in Peru within the National Forest Conservation Program. At the Ministry, she was involved in implementing the Joint Declaration of Intent between Norway, Peru and Germany, as well as setting up the UN-REDD National Program. Sarah has also worked at the World Resources Institute in Washington, D.C. and Derecho, Ambiente y Recursos Naturales in Lima, Peru, where she focused on forest and electricity governance. She has an MESc from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, and has a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Chicago. Her masters thesis focused on the process through which forest policy reforms are being undertaken in Peru, and specifically the impact of international influences on domestic policy processes.
