Priya Ganguli

Priya M. Ganguli

Biography

Priya Ganguli is an Assistant Professor at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in the Department of Geological Sciences and the new CSUN Water Science Program. She studies the transport and fate of contaminants in aquatic environments. Many of her projects focus on the element mercury (Hg), which changes its form and toxicity in response to geochemical, biological, and physical processes. Given the complexity of natural systems, her work involves scientists from a range disciplines, including biogeochemistry, hydrogeology/hydrology, and geomorphology. She is also developing ties with the CSUN Department of Political Science and will begin considering issues related to California water policy. Engaging students in earth science and enhancing diversity in STEM motivates Priya's work and she encourages both long- and short-term student involvement in her research projects.
