Steve Rasmussen Cancian

Steve Rasmussen Cancian is a landscape designer seeking to help people collectively create beautiful, sustainable environments that nurture their families, their communities and their visions. His current projects include environmental learning centers in two national parks, urban plazas in several low-income communities-of-color, a playground in the Sierra, and sidewalk living rooms in Oakland and Los Angeles, designed to fight gentrification while improving the neighborhood for current residents. He previous worked as a community organizer for 11 years building dozens of multi-cultural, multi-lingual tenant and community organizations in Los Angeles. He also managed local and statewide grassroots electoral campaigns, including serving as Rev. Jesse Jackson’s 1988 New Hampshire Campaign Manager. Steve lives in San Francisco with his wife, Hanne Lis Cancian Rasmussen.
