Shaye Wolf on Flying Squirrels and Imperiled Arctic Wildlife

Fellow(s): Shaye Wolf

Shaye Wolf, 2000 Fellow and Climate Science Director with the Center for Biological Diversity in San Francisco, has been in the news recently for her work on biodiversity protection in a changing climate.

Shaye wrote a petition under the Endangered Species Act to list as protected the San Bernardino flying squirrel, a formerly common species in California that has seen dramatic declines in recent years due to habitat loss.  Shaye was interviewed for an article in The Press-Enterprise.  Click here for the full article.

Shaye was also in the news recently to discuss an article on which she was the lead author, which talks about Arctic wildlife species that are imperiled by a changing climate.  The report, entitled "Extinction: It's Not Just for Polar Bears," highlights the plight of 17 Arctic wildlife species (aside from polar bears) that are suffering due to climate change.  Shaye was interviewed by CNN, the BBC, The Guardian, and other news outlets.
