About Bruce's Work

Bruce had an educational background ranging from economics to ecological restoration. Pursuing a career in environmental stewardship, his primary focus was developing local capacity for community based stewardship. Through this endeavor he had the opportunity to work in most major watersheds in California. With 30 years experience Mr. Handley guided development of watershed specific protocols, restoration techniques and programs to establish sound stewardship practices. During his tenure Mr. Handley was active in fostering development in the art and science of ecological restoration. He was a founding member of the Society for Ecological Restoration, California Chapter; The Nature Conservancy’s Habitat Restoration Team and served as Chairman of the California State Forest Stewardship Committee. He was a Switzer Fellow, Interviewer, Leadership Grant recipient, as well as a Mentor.
