Nithya Ramanathan: Cell phone technology to monitor air pollution

Nithya Ramanathan (2007), assistant research professor of computer science at UCLA, was profiled in the December 15, 2010 issue of Scientific American for her work developing cell phone technology to improve air pollution monitoring ("How to Stop Black Carbon: Could a network of cell phones improve air pollution monitoring?").  Nithya worked with 2000 Fellow Scott Fruin under a Switzer Collaborative Initiatives Seed Grant on the development of this technology.
