About Kelsey's Work

Born and raised in a small island town in Southeast Alaska, Kelsey’s passion for the ocean runs deep. She received her Master's degree in 2012 from the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management where she studied Coastal and Marine Resource Management. Her collaborative Masters research focused on modeling the tradeoffs between ecological and socioeconomic impacts of expanding Chile’s salmon aquaculture industry into Chilean Patagonia. This work provided the Regional Chilean Government with advice on salmon aquaculture practices and locations that could help strike a balance between profits and environmental impacts in this sparsely populated fjord system.

More recently, Kelsey made moves to follow her other passion: visual design. Always intrigued by finding the best ways to illustrate data and convey information visually, she entered a training program in user experience and user interface (UX/UI) design for web products. With this new skillset, she aims to help environmental organizations more effectively share their stories.
