About Caitlin's Work

Caitlin Crain is a Senior Tidal Wetland Ecologist in SFEI’s Resilient Landscape Program. She is the Lead Scientist for the San Francisco Estuary Wetland Regional Monitoring Program (WRMP), guiding the design and implementation of a regional program to quantify resilience of San Francisco Estuary wetlands. In this role she works with a broad range of stakeholders and technical experts to devise a coherent and innovative approach to wetland monitoring that is relevant, feasible and supported by the community. Caitlin received her PhD from Brown University in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology where she conducted extensive field research in tidal wetland plant communities across large spatial scales. Her postdoctoral work focused on managing and modeling human impacts to marine ecosystems. She has since worked in coastal and estuarine ecosystems of the Pacific coast, particularly focused on wetland restoration and coastal conservation.
