About Carina's Work

With her background in ecosystem services market mechanisms and many years in international environmental markets, Carina helps craft and foster private funding partnerships and mechanisms that leverage and celebrate the immense value of restoration and resilience.

Carina excels at driving innovative partnerships and forging creative win-win solutions to get nature-based solutions implemented on the ground.  She blends expertise in science and natural resources with her experience with private markets, leading institutions, and Fortune 100 companies to deliver real and measurable outcomes for forests, water, and local economies across the globe.

In 2022, Carina brought her tools and approaches to conservation finance to the United States. As Director of Conservation Finance and Nature-based Solutions for National Forest Foundation (NFF), Carina works to increase ecosystem services-based funding across the 193 million acres of the National Forest and Grasslands of the U.S.

In addition to scaling NFF’s water benefits program through new investments for delivering water quantity benefits to a growing portfolio of watershed projects, Carina’s team is piloting quantified approaches for biodiversity and water quality. Her team also leads collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service to identify funding pathways for forest resilience and forest health.
