About Claudia's Work

Claudia Diezmartínez is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Earth & Environment at Boston University. Her research focuses on urban climate policy, climate finance, and climate justice. Specifically, she studies how cities across the United States are designing, financing, and implementing policies that serve not only to mitigate or adapt to climate change, but also to improve social justice in urban communities. Claudia also works as a Policy Fellow at the City of Boston's Environment Department, where she collaborates with city staff and community leaders to develop justice centered regulations that will implement Boston's Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO). With her research and work, Claudia hopes to contribute to ongoing efforts connecting climate action and climate justice in both the academic and policy worlds.

Claudia was born in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico. She holds a B.S. in Sustainable Development Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey and an M.Phil. in Environmental Policy from the University of Cambridge.
