About Claudia's Work
Dr. Diezmartínez is the Deputy Director for Policy and Programs at the City of Boston's Environment Department, where she works to advance efforts that further Boston's carbon neutrality and climate justice goals. Claudia collaborates across City Departments to implement Boston's Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO), create innovative renewable energy programs, and develop Boston's first climate budgeting strategy. With her work, she aims to help Boston become a national leader in the implementation of just urban transitions. She previously worked as a Policy and Equity Advisor for the Environment Department, where she launched a Climate Justice Working Group that led the creation of Boston's first climate justice principles.
Claudia holds a PhD in Earth & Environment from Boston University (U.S.), where she conducted research on urban climate policy, climate finance, and climate justice. She holds an M.Phil. in Environmental Policy from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), and a B.S. in Sustainable Development Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico).
