Dancing Freedom: An introduction to somatics with India Harville
Are you curious about somatics but unsure where to begin with body-based work? This session is for you! Join Disability Justice activist and movement facilitator India Harville for a one-hour, online introduction to Dancing Freedom—a gentle, accessible movement/somatic practice. You’ll be guided through simple, low-pressure exercises inspired by the elements—earth, water, fire, air, and ether—to help you feel more grounded, present, and at ease. Connect with your body, the elements and tap into your resilience. This is a beginner-friendly space for exploring somatic (body-based) awareness in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. No prior experience with somatics or dance is needed, and the practice is adaptable for all bodyminds. Please bring a journal and a water bottle.
This session is open to all Switzer Fellows. If the event does not fill up by September 8, we will open registration to peer fellowships in order to maximize access to this offering. The final deadline to register is September 28, or when full.
Please contact Cora if you have any questions.
