Daniel Gonzalez hired as CA Air Resources Board Engineer
Daniel Gonzalez is starting his career at the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as an Air Resources Engineer. In this role, he will be combining my training as an investigator with technical engineering expertise to ensure compliance with California’s air quality and emissions regulations. His work will involve reviewing evidence, analyzing regulatory compliance, and supporting enforcement actions that protect public health and the environment.
According to their website, CARB's mission is to promote and protect public health, welfare, and ecological resources through effective reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and considering effects on the economy. CARB is the lead agency for climate change programs and oversees all air pollution control efforts in California to attain and maintain health-based air quality standards.
“I’ve always wanted to make a meaningful impact that benefits the greater good, but I didn’t always know how,” Daniel shared. “During my PhD, I focused on research and policy with the hope of influencing change. Now, working with the California Air Resources Board and being trained as an investigator, I have the opportunity to support the enforcement of regulations that protect communities across California.”
“I believe clean air is a right, not a privilege—and it’s meaningful to know that my work directly contributes to healthier, more equitable communities. My work would not have been possible without the support of the Switzer foundation!”
