Brownfields Redevelopment and Green Design in Dorchester, Year 1

Beverly Craig was hired as a consultant to help this organization move forward on at least two brownfields redevelopment sites in Dorchester. Beverly has extensive experience in urban brownfield redevelopment from her six years as brownfields coordinator for the City of Milwaukee. Through her assistance with the EPA brownfields conference held in Boston in 2006, and communications with Switzer Fellow Carol Tucker of the EPA's office in Boston, Beverly was able to identify this organization as one that could use her skills and through which she can learn about brownfields redevelopment in Massachusetts. The project will also build her knowledge in incorporating green design into redevelopment projects. A product of this research will be a proposed policy for DBEDC on how they might evaluate when and how to include green design principles in their projects.
