About Hasibe's Work

Hasibe Caballero-Gómez is an environmental health scientist and community advocate pursuing a PhD in Environmental Health Sciences at UCLA. Her work broadly centers on addressing environmental justice, climate resilience, and health disparities in urban, immigrant, and working class communities. Hasibe’s research on the intersection of heat, housing, and health explores the disproportionate effects of rising temperatures on disproportionately climate-impacted populations and the way existing housing infrastructure mediate those relationships. In addition to her academic work, Hasibe is actively engaged in community outreach and education through organizations like Pacoima Beautiful where she supports their missions to promote healthier communities, sustainable practices and urban forestry in environmentally impacted neighborhoods. Driven by her lived experiences and a vision of equity, she combines research with grassroots engagement to create meaningful, inclusive solutions for environmental challenges.
