About Jadda's Work
Jadda is a Bellwether Postdoctoral Scholar at UC Berkeley’s School of Information, where she works with Kimiko Ryokai on a collaboration between the School of Information and the Lawrence Hall of Science that partners with Ohlone youth and cultural leaders to co-design mixed-reality exhibits centering the Ohlone experience in the East Bay. Alongside this work, she continues the community-based research she co-developed in Maui, Hawaiʻi, exploring how students engage with Kānaka ʻŌiwi (Native Hawaiian) biocultural knowledge alongside Western science in environmental and wildfire mitigation education. Her work with educators and community partners in Maui grew from a response to the 2023 Lahaina wildfire. Broadly, her research centers Indigenous epistemologies, place-based education, and epistemic justice in environmental and science education.
