About Janelle's Work

Janelle Heslop serves as the Associate Director for Strategy and Innovation for the Earth Sciences Division at NASA Goddard, where she leads strategic initiatives to strengthen innovation, partnerships, and the application of Earth science across sectors. She brings 15 years of experience at the intersection of strategy, operations, innovation, and organizational transformation, working across global companies and public agencies.

Prior to joining NASA, Janelle was a strategy and operations leader at Amgen, where she guided long-range planning, portfolio investment, and cross-functional initiatives to enable a more efficient, sustainable, and innovative biomanufacturing network for the biotech giant. Earlier in her career, she worked as a management consultant, advising Fortune 500 companies and public agencies on environmental innovation, sustainability strategy, operational efficiency, business transformation, and strategic planning.

Janelle holds an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering and an MBA from MIT, and a B.S. in Earth and Environmental Engineering from Columbia University.
