About Jeff's Work

Dr. Jeff Dlott is the COO at LandScan and Chair of the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s (CDFA) Environmental Farming Science Advisory Panel (SAP). The SAP advises the CDFA Secretary on the Healthy Soils Program, State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program, and on scientific findings, program frameworks, grower incentives, and technical assistance. Dr. Dlott has served as an appointed member since 2011. 

LandScan is an AgTech startup that has developed an agricultural site characterization and analysis platform that produces a digital twin of the soil environment and its relationship with crop health, performance, and management. Dr. Dlott leads operations including R&D, manufacturing, HR, finance, and acquisitions Previously, he served as President of SureHarvest, the sustainability software and services division of Where Food Comes From Inc (WFCF, Nasdaq). At WFCF, Dr. Dlott managed the integration of three acquisitions in the areas of automating organic certification, software engineering, and sustainable seafood services. 

Dr. Dlott clients have spanned fresh produce companies, food service providers, consumer packaged goods companies, trade associations, universities, and NGOs; hundreds of US wineries and vineyard operations, and thousands of farming operations in fruit, nut, and vegetable cropping systems. He is the lead inventor on US patents crossing the fields of food traceability and chain of custody for environmental, social, and economic product attributes. Dr. Dlott is a co-inventor of LandScan’s novel technologies. 

He earned his PhD from the University of California at Berkeley in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management.
