About Logan's Work
Hi, I'm Logan and I'm passionate about the intersection of environmental health and community wellness. I am located in rural northern California where I work primarily with our various tribal communities on behavioral health. Having Choctaw ancestry, I experienced first hand the behavioral health crisis that intergenerational trauma from colonialism causes many Native communities and individuals. Finding solutions to this crisis is not just about having more clinicians, but about ameliorating the environment and social structures that surround us. By restoring and stewarding local ecosystems I believe human communities consequently become much healthier.
I am fascinated by the idea of 'restoration therapy' which utilizes the work of environmental restoration projects as a reflexive metaphor for individuals looking to heal their inner-worlds. Currently, I am working with the Mountain Bike Tribal Trail Alliance to help expose tribal youth to the joy of mountain biking - along with sustainable trail building practices. It is my hope to expand programs like this that are joyous in nature and help individuals build their own relationships with nature as a way of improving community wellness.
