About Mark's Work

Mark Sudol is the Director of the Navigation and Civil Works Decision Support Center for the Corps of Engineers Institute for Water Resources. He manages a staff of research scientists and economists that deal with many of our Nation's most pressing water resource issues. He was previously the Chief of the Regulatory Program for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. His dissertation research evaluated the success of riparian mitigation sites in Orange County California. The Corps of Engineer's new habitat assessment technique, the Hydrogeomorphic Method (HGM)was used. Prior to his current position Mark worked for the Corps of Engineers as a Regulatory Project Manager in Los Angeles for 5 years and for Planning Consultants Research (PCR), a private consulting firm in Orange County as a senior ecologist/regulatory specialist.
