About Nargis's Work
I am a PhD student in the Department of Environmental Conservation at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As a water resources manager and hydrologist, my research focuses on the hydrological impacts of climate extremes—particularly droughts and floods—and their effects on water systems and vulnerable communities. Coming from a vulnerable community myself, I am deeply committed to advocating for both social and environmental justice. My work emphasizes improving drought assessment tools and promoting equitable approaches to water resource planning in the context of climate change.
I am passionate about sustainable water management, climate resilience, and the role of science in informing policy and empowering communities. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, photography, and exploring natural landscapes.
