About Tim's Work

Dr. Timothy Krupnik holds the position of Systems Agronomist with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), based in Bangladesh but with regional duties. He leads a portfolio of applied research and development efforts focusing on alternative crop, farm, and agroecosystem assessments that integrate agronomic, ecological, and socioeconomic objectives, methods, and indicators. Timothy has a proven track record attracting funding, and has excellent donor liaison skills. He has authored or co-authored 22 peer-reviewed papers, one book, and numerous of technical reports and invited presentations. With core expertise in agronomy, he favors integrative and interdisciplinary research, and frequently collaborates with social scientists. Focusing on cereal-based farming systems, Timothy has conducted research and consulted in South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Caribbean. He maintains a strong desire to translate applied science into impact. In addition to his research, Timothy has facilitated the production and development of a number of award-winning extension materials, including seven farmer educational videos now translated into six languages, with documented viewership of over 110,000 farmers and tens of millions of television viewers in South Asia.
