About Mike's Work

Mike works at the intersection of water, governance, and human systems, with a particular focus on helping people work together across difference, scale, and institutional boundaries.

As a social scientist and facilitator, he is most engaged by work that requires judgment, trust, and patience—where progress depends as much on shared understanding and timing as on technical insight.

In this phase of his career, Mike concentrates on mentorship, stewardship, and partnership: supporting clients and teams in building durable capacity, navigating transitions, and knowing when to step forward—and when to step aside.

His work has centered on California water governance, including long-standing engagements with Los Angeles County Public Works and California Department of Water Resources, as well as service on the Steering Committee of the California Water Data Consortium. He holds a PhD in Geography from UCLA (2016), and is an environmental fellow of the Robert and Patricia Switzer Foundation.
